Regular Simple Meals

A daily challenge to make meals predictable and low-effort by repeating a few simple options you genuinely like.

Regular Simple Meals

Regular simple meals aren’t about eating the same thing forever.

They’re about having a few reliable defaults you can fall back on—especially on the days when cooking feels like too much.

For this challenge, pick 2–5 “safe” meals you’ll repeat this month. The goal is consistency and low friction, not perfect nutrition or culinary variety.

Think in terms of:

  • Minimal steps
  • Short ingredient lists
  • Meals you can make even when you’re tired
  • Options that work for one person (or scale up easily)

A useful way to do this is to build a small rotation:

  • 1–2 ultra-fast meals (about 15–20 minutes)
  • 1–2 minimal-prep meals (assembly, sheet-pan, or one-pot style)
  • 1 backup meal for “too tired to cook” nights

If you want ideas, you can borrow formats from quick dinner collections: simple single-serving dinners, 20-minute recipes, and low-effort meals designed for tired evenings. Then repeat the ones that actually fit your life.

What to notice during the month:

  • Do you feel calmer when dinner is decided in advance?
  • Do you shop differently when you know your defaults?
  • Which meals feel easy in theory, but annoying in practice?

You’re not trying to optimize your diet here.

You’re trying to make eating feel more predictable.
