Swap one ultra-processed item

Pick one ultra-processed food or drink you have most days, and swap it for a simpler version this week—no perfection, just noticing what changes (taste, hunger, mood, energy, cravings).

Swap one ultra-processed item

Choose one ultra-processed item you have most days (something packaged and engineered to be very convenient—often with additives, flavorings, or emulsifiers).

For the next 7 days, don’t overhaul everything. Just swap that one thing for a simpler alternative.

A few easy options (pick what fits your life and budget):

  • Sugary cereal → oats/porridge topped with fruit or nuts
  • Packaged snack bars → yogurt + fruit, or nuts + fruit
  • Chips/crisps → popcorn you make yourself, or roasted nuts
  • Soda → sparkling water with lemon/lime (or dilute juice)
  • Instant noodles → quick pasta/rice with frozen veg + eggs/beans

What to notice (no need to “score” it):

  • Do you feel more or less hungry between meals?
  • Any change in cravings (especially late afternoon/evening)?
  • Energy and mood stability across the day
  • How hard was the swap in real life (time, cost, convenience, enjoyment)?

If you miss the original item, that’s useful data—not failure. You can adjust the swap so it’s still realistic (a different brand, a halfway swap, or fewer days per week).
